The 2026 Fangtang Forum opened at Xijiao Hotel in Beijing on June 22. Under the theme “AI’s Next Step: Philosophical Answers to Key Questions,” the Forum considered foundational questions arising as AI becomes deeply embedded in human society.
Its four thematic sessions addressed AI epistemology, computational philosophy and AI ethics, the reconfiguration of human value in a post-work era, and the reorganization of knowledge production and humanistic scholarship in the age of AI. The Forum continued Fangtang’s inquiry into technology, society, knowledge, and civilization.
